like many “facts” on tumblr, I am pretty sure this is false. There hasn’t been any evidence to support this story though it makes for a nice one.
there is however, evidence, via kotaku and other websites with developer interviews, stating they came up with the line randomly with out knowing that it would become such a big deal. some people think it is a reference to armor/the lack of specific armor in other Elder Scrolls games.
however, no evidence exists to prove that it is nordic slang. just a bunch of random comments all over the internet “my friend’s neighbors sister’s cousin told me” kind of stuff.
